Brené Brown’s 2018 book Dare to Lead continues to be a best-seller around the world. One of the big findings from her seven years of leadership research: it’s not fear that gets in the way of being brave, it’s armor.
The things we do to try and stay safe hold us back: perfectionism, being knowers, criticizing. When we set that armor down – despite feeling afraid and vulnerable – we become more curious, give and receive constructive feedback more openly, strive for excellence in healthy ways, and create genuine and trusting connections. Learning happens when we’re outside our comfort zones.
You’ll find lots of fantastic free resources on Brené’s Dare to Lead™ hub. You can organize a book club and use the read along guide. Download inspiring quotes. Take the Daring Leadership Assessment.
I’m certified to train people in the four empirically based courage-building skill sets: rumbling with vulnerability, living into our values, braving trust, and learning to rise. If you want to explore team building or leadership coaching with me based on Dare to Lead, I’d love to hear from you.
